Brandy Hints at Drake Collaboration

Brandy’s duet with Monica isn’t the only collaboration to look forward to on her upcoming album. The R&B songstress is set to record a song penned by Drake.
Brandy is a fan of the Young Money rapper. “I love Drake. I think Drake is just so phenomenal. I love his music. I’m always wishing that I can just sing one of Drake’s melodies,” she told TrueExclusives.com before revealing that something is already in the works.
“Actually I might be doing a song that Drake wrote for the album this upcoming week,” she teased.
In a recent interview with Rap-Up.com, Rico Love spoke about recording a follow-up to “The Boy Is Mine” with Monica and Sean Garrett hinted at a surprise guest on a potential single he produced.
Brandy has also been in the studio with Frank Ocean, Bangladesh, Chris Brown, and others working on her sixth album, due this May on RCA/Chameleon Records.

Drake’s Producer Praises Kanye

Noah Shebib better known as ‘40’ is from Toronto, Ontario and has produced for artists such as Drake, Lil Wayne, and Alicia Keys.
40 Shebib, acknowledged the tremendous influence that rapper/producer Kanye West has had on his career. Drake’s music has been compared to Kanye’s 808s & Heartbreak album, and Shebib admits that Yeezy’s sound is a point-of-reference.
“I look up to that guy like crazy. I always have and I always will,” 40 said. “That’s someone who’s carved out a sound for rap music a couple of times, who has really influenced and changed the game as an individual. It would be crazy to say there’s competition.” He added that people should understand the difference between stealing another artist’s style and being influenced by him. “You’re supposed to be a hybrid. When you got T.I. and Nas and Jay-Z and Wayne and Kanye and Eminem, all these different types of rappers from different places and so on and so forth, I would expect a couple of years after that a new rapper would comes out who incorporates all of those people. Because that’s the evolution of it and that’s what will always happen, so I don’t even look at it as like biting or stealing or this or that,” 40 said.

Common Calls Drake ‘Canada Dry’!!

Birdman stopped by LA’s Power 106 radio station for a quick interview this week, where he was inevitably questioned about the war brewing between Drake and Common, and the Cash Money CEO didn’t hesitate to respond. “Drake the homie so we ride or die, ain’t no second questions about that, but we’ve never been a brand to make records and want to make money off of making records off other people, that’s not what we bout,” he said. “So to me, however the young homie deal with it, we behind him, we supporting him 100 percent with our life, so that’s just what it is.”

“Ain’t no other way, Drake the lil homie, that’s blood, that’s blood that’s family and ain’t not siding with that,” he continued. “It’s drake or nothing.”

Despite having Drake’s back, Birdman reiterated that the YMCMB family has never attempted to prosper off of rap beefs. “We don’t do all that, we never did that, never was about making money off of making music off of diss records, that’s not how we operate,” he said. “When you get caught up in that, to me you forget what it’s about, and it’s about the people and that’s what we do. We do our music for the people. We’ve never been a brand to do diss records and try to make money, that’s not us.”

In other words, don’t expect any shots from Lil Wayne directed at Common.
