One the hottest artist to come out of the West Coast is a 25 year old native of the Compton, Los Angeles area; who first gained major attention after the release of his 2010 mixtape
O(verly) D(edicated), Kendrick Lamar, at his young age sounds like a seasoned vet; that may be contributed by having already
worked with Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Wiz Khalifa, Game, Drake, Busta Rhymes and Tech N9ne among others. Now Lamar offers up
'The Recipe' – the first single from his as-yet unnamed debut album released under the Aftermath/Interscope umbrella.
The laid-back west coast track has
Dr. Dre written all over it, and Dre jumps on the track for a verse; and is topped off by a catchy hook and Twin Sister-sample. Have a listen to
