RZA Wu-Tang Clan producer, turned feature film-director, revealed in an interview with Funkmaster Flex, just how Tarantino mentored him in the art of film direction and said that he and his collaborator, director Eli Roth, looked to Tarantino for approval on their The Man With the Iron Fists script.
RZA goes on to say....“I would say [that directing a film] is something more that was a dream, actually,” he explained. “I met Quentin Tarantino, they called me to promote a movie for them [Kill Bill, Vol. 1]. Later on, he got me to do the music – he was like, ‘I want you to produce this like you produce those albums.’ And I was like, ‘It would be my pleasure, yo.’ But then, I recognized something about him – ‘This guy is a genius. He’s an encyclopedia of film. I’m gonna ask him to mentor me, I’m gonna study with him.’
You can also watch RZA in a recent interview with Snoop Lion (Snoop Dog), were he talks about how Wu-Tang form as a group back in the day, and plans on celebrating 20 years of the group's first album '36 Chambers'....
