(Peep Sho, Jennifer Joy, and Chip-Fu) |
#PeepSho is an MC out of the Toronto and is originally from Nova Scotia, Canada; he is making moves in the music scene and I chatted with the 25 yr old on CHRY 105.5 FM where he premiered his new track 'Reap What You Sow' featuring Chip-Fu (of the influential 90's hip-hop group Fu-Schnickens), who was also live on the radio.....Listen to the full interview and featured track inside....
Peep Sho (pictured on the left) is no stranger to the mic, as he got his first break at the age of 14 with a successful independent hip hop group also from Toronto, Citizen Kane, after being introduced by the group's studio engineer. Shortly after, Peep went on to pen lyrics for the group, as well as open up shows for them while on tour. He was featured on songs in 1999 with a collective called Paradox, which included talented rappers from Toronto, Orlando, Florida and Memphis, Tennessee. Peep put out his own release Mix CD in the summer of 2003, displaying his skill over other known beats, and again in 2004 selling over four thousand copies in Ontario alone. Now he has recently returned to the mic with energy on his latest track 'Reap What You Sow'.
Chip Fu a.k.a Jungle Rock Jr. is now a solo artist and CEO; he has been in Toronto setting up shop for his new company Blaq.Ink which is an international entertainment company; and also working with producer Marvin Prince. I asked the hip hop legend why he selected Toronto as one of it's base for scouting new talent and he said....."It's a large West Indian base, and a person like me being from the West Indian cultural we are looking for several artists that can either do both reggae, hip hop, and even soca, and just balance everything out....it's more so like the whole vibe in Brooklyn, the whole Flatbush area - a whole corner coupe of culture."
When talking about working with Peep Sho and the talents he has to offer, he said...."he's an incredible artist, I think that when people hear what he has to say, it's going to move mountains..."
