Zoe Saldana replaces Mary J. Blige in Nina Simone in Biopic

Zoe Saldana now has the official role, playing the late jazz icon Nina Simone.  Back in 2010 Mary J. Blige was lined up to play singer Nina Simone in the new biopic that was supposed to start filming last year.
The film then experienced funding set-backs which delayed the start of the shoot and subsequently Mary J. Blige stepped down from the role.

*Damn! I was so looking forward to seeing Mary J in this role*

The movie will start filming in Los Angeles this October. Zoe will be starring along side David Oyelowo, who will play Nina Simone's manager Clifton Henderson.
