After over 20 years in the business #Nas is currently working on his follow-up to his successful 'Life Is Good' album and has been recently named ""The Greatest Lyricist to Ever Live" by CNN".....In their article they pointed out....'Lyricist' over 'rapper' or 'hip-hop' artist; 'greatest' instead of most successful;' 'all time' rather than 'today'...." The CNN author notes that Nas is not the king in albums sales or #1 records; Nas recently released his 9th album which went to #1 since 1994, but still brings him second behind Jay-Z who has released 11 albums. Nas talked about the 'high praise' on Hot 97's Angie Martinez Show recently. Watch the video with Nas on Hot 97 and read more on his take of this accolade given to him by CNN.
Nasir wants to clarify the CNN honor by saying..."It's wayyyyy, way, way too early in our lives...It's great to put a list together, but don't take it oo seriously because your list won't list 10 years from now or 15 years from now. It'll be a different lis....he also added in a different article that if it was 15 years ago, it would be Biggie or Tupac, and if they were still around he would probably be better, a lot better; as to said he would have/ need to work harder. The CNN article also referred to other artists who would rank up there as great lyricist's; Outkast, LL Cool J, Snoop Lion (Snoop Dog), and Eminem. What about Rakim, KRS One??....Everyone has their own list, and it will always up for debate.
Nas also spoke about reconciling with his ex-wife and the contents of his hit song "Bye Baby". He said "We're back together as friends," he clarified. "We were not friends. We were not the best friends for a long time. It was crazy. We're friends now. That's what it is. We're not together. We're friends though."
