Video: Music Producer - Just Blaze on Sampling Music


We're heard stories of how sampling musician music of the past, is stealing, disrespectful, or even has no business on a hip hop record; what we don't hear enough is how sampling has help these musicians financially and continues to breath life into existing masterpieces.

Inside #JustBlaze talks about how the music he has sampled helped the original recording artists and the influence of Canadian composer Galt MacDermot has had on hip-hop music. 

 
Super producer Just Blaze has worked with many artists (too many to name) and is well known for his work on the albums for Jay -Z The Blueprint, The Blueprint 2, and The Black Album; as well producing number 1 hits for Maroon 5, and Rihanna. Just Blaze talks about how sampling records has helped some the artists out of difficult situations....

Justin Smith aka Just Blaze out of Paterson, New Jersey  and CEO of Fort Knocks Entertainment also discusses Canadian composer, pianist and writer of musical theatre Galt MacDermot and his influence on music....who is known for film soundtracks including Cotton Comes to Harlem (1970) and Hair - the musical (1967); who also put out jazz and funk albums, also classical music. MacDermot music has been sampled by many hip-hop artists including Special Ed, Run DMC, Busta Rhymes,  DJ Premier, and Foxy Brown.
