#PeteRock & C.L. Smooth are a hip-hop collabo out of Mount Vernon, New York; they released their debut EP in 1991, All Souled Out and followed with 1992's LP Mecca and the Soul Brother; which contained the smash hit 'They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)',.....the track was a tribute for fallen friends—namely Troy "Trouble T-Roy" Dixon, a member of Heavy D & The Boyz.
The duo is preparing to perform together later this month for the first time in more than 10 years, and maybe offering new music in the near future....
Although the duo did not reach gold status on any of their releases in the 90's; they surely did within the hip hop community, radio play, and club scene at the time, as the track T.R.O.Y. was on heavy rotation at the hands of DJ's around the world and reached #1 on U.S. Rap chart....
Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth will be reuniting onstage to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their seminal debut album, Mecca & the Soul Brother. The duo has not been officially together in more than a decade. Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth will be performing in London at the Jazz Cafe, October 28th through the 30th. It was announced that they were working on new material back in December 2011; however it's still unclear if this upcoming performance will lead into a warm up for new material to come.
