R.I.P. Whitney Elizabeth Houston (1963-2012)

The precious gift that we were fortunate to receive has moved on to another life, as her work and time with us is over. As we all know and have clearly witnessed, Whitney Houston was and may very well be the greatest singer of all-time; and we were fortunate to hear her God given talent through the engaging relationship between Clive Davis and the Houston family in 1983; and as they say, the rest is history.....

This woman did what she was born/ sent here to do, she truly live her life's purpose. At the age of 10 years old when I first heard her voice and then saw a picture of her, immediately I knew that all things are possible. She was 'it'. Whitney at 20 years old, was the best singer out there, she was beautiful, talented, classy, and spoke about God and what her relationship with God meant to her and I found that to be fascinating - great! Her mother 'gospel great' Cissy Houston had to have been very proud of her only daughter, what else could a mother ask for of their child.

There are two artists that I don't question or wonder "is their album going to be any good!?" before buying the album, and Whitney Houston was one of them. I was sold at 10 years of age, it did not matter! It did not matter because she could do no wrong in my eyes. She did not have to dance when she was singing...FOR WHAT?? When you have the voice of an angel, she did not have to dance (that is our job, to dance to her music), it's irrelevant and on top of it, when you are so incredibly easy on the eyes, we don't need her to be jumping around....we just want to stare at her and take it all in!

To even mention Ms. Houston's personal life is also irrelevant; she was a human being like everyone else who experiences ups and downs. We were not introduced to Whitney for her personal life; it was because of her talent. We all have ups and downs, struggled with situations, been in relationships that didn't work out....and....so what! She was not superwomen, she had a super voice, that only comes along once in a lifetime to share with the world. Her passing is just another reminder to cherish people that matter, people who mean something to you WHILE they are still here.

I heard a reporter say that "Whitney Houston was America's treasure"....(trying not to cuss) but that's some BS right there, in the sense that, if she was still living and even standing in front of the reporter, I bet he would not have said that to her, I'm sure. Was Whitney America's treasure or more over the world?....Yes. However, to wait until the person is dead to acknowledge their importance's and the contributions they have made with their gift and efforts, feels like a slap in the face.

Houston was the most awarded female artist of all time, according to Guinness World Records, with two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards, among a total of 415 career awards as of 2010. She held the all-time record for the most American Music Awards of any female solo artist and shared the record with Michael Jackson for the most AMAs ever won in a single year with eight wins in 1994. Houston won a record 11 Billboard Music Awards at its fourth ceremony in 1993. She also had the record for the most WMAs won in a single year, winning five awards at the 6th World Music Awards in 1994....and the list goes on.....

There is so much to say, and it's impossible to say it ALL today, so I will keep it brief and will remember her as the Superstar and the Queen of Pop Music - 'The Voice'.

Maybe I did not post right away because I was hoping that the news of her death was a rumor, just as the rumors fueled by the media in the past...sadly it is not.

I know Whitney Houston is in a better place. Thank you Whitney Houston for the music, your strength, your efforts, and your love, you will always be remembered. God Bless Whitney Houston and her family.
