#NelsonMandela is no longer living in the physical,
and for most it is a lost, however I do not see Mandela death as a lost, for the
day he was born July 18, 1918 was an enormous gain for the people of South
Africa, for Africans throughout the world, for human rights, and for the world
as a whole. Nelson Mandela's spirit, heart, and courage is indeed admirable, but
more importantly one to be cloned in each individual to ensure a better life not
only for self, but if we all were to pattern and carry out the necessary virtue
of 'forgiveness' the world will be a better place, and instill this practice for
the future generation.
Love is something we are all born with, and as we
grow some maintain it to it's full capacity and others lose love in their
hearts, mind, and soul for various reasons - which is directly linked to
negative energy. However, forgiveness is a voluntary and intentional process to
change feelings and attitude when you have been victimized.
The people of South Africa were victims of
institutionalized racism, poverty and inequality in the form of apartheid - a racist regime;
and Nelson Mandela was jailed for 27 years for fighting for the rights of his
people, as the leader of African National Congress. While imprisoned Mandela
understood that apartheid must end (by any means necessary), and in order to do
so, he would have to understand, learn, and forgive the oppressors. THIS IS NOT
AN EASY THING TO DO, but at the same time when there is an issue that threatens
your well-being, life, and very existence, it can and will become easy to do, when you decide it is necessary to better yourself.
Keeping in mind forgiveness does not necessarily
mean "all is well, lets have lunch and be friends"....When Mandela was released
from prison in 1990, he was deeply bitter for being away from his family, but
what forgiveness means is acknowledging the person (oppressors) hurt and at the same time not to minimize or justify the wrong, you can forgive the person (oppressors)
without excusing the act - as a result forgiveness will set you free, brings
peace and live a healthier life; and Mandela did that not only for himself, but
furthermore the people of South Africa.
Mandela went on to become the first African (black)
president of South Africa - he is an icon, a champion, a leader, who triumph in
the human experience.
"Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how
many times I fell down and got back up again" -Nelson Mandela-
Nelson Mandela was a living example how to overcome
difficulties in life - especially difficulties that are placed on you by others;
and in death his example shines more brightly, and his lesson will forever be
unchanged.
Thank you Nelson Mandela for all you have done and
all that you represent - LOVE.
