Throwback Vid: HBD - Rick James
Celebrating his memory today - Born James Ambrose Johnson, Jr. on February 1, 1948 in Buffalo, New York. The third of eight children, Rick James was raised with music in his blood (his uncle was Melvin Franklin, bass vocalist of The Temptations). Today the Punk Funk Master himself would have turned 64.
One of Rick's success was with 'You and I' which topped the R&B charts. He wrote hits for The Mary Janes Girls 'In My House' and Eddie Murphy 'Party All The Time' and we jammed to Rick's sampled 'Super Freak' by MC Hammer'Can't Touch This'....
