New Music: British Group 'JLS' Working In Studio with Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins
JLS (which stands for Jack the Lad Swing), are a British group, previously called UFO, consisting of members Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams, Jonathan Benjamin "JB" Gill and Marvin Humes. They were runners-up of the fifth series of the reality talent show The X Factor in 2008, coming second to Alexandra Burke.
In 2010, JLS signed an American record deal with Jive Records, and released "Everybody in Love" as their debut U.S. single, however it did not the charts.
Now they are getting some star power assistance from Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins (who recently work with Nelly Furtado on her up coming album) and they will be working be legendary R&B singer, songwriter, and producer Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds and Toby Gad for tracks on JLS up coming LP.
They have some heavy hitters working in the studio with them, but time will tell if they can build a unique style, sound of their own to compete in the US market of carbon copies...I believe that we may have finally entered a turning point were the labels will have to produce some original flavor...or at least I hope so!
